Find the answer to what is a web counter.
A web counter is a script called from your web page but running on a web
server that collects data about your visitors. Most web counters are CGI
scripts or Perl scripts and can collect more than just a count of how many
visitors your web site received.
If you have a good web hosting provider, you don't need web counters. Your
web host should already collect data on your visitors, without you having to
put code on each one of your web pages. They should also provide you with a
web based analyser for your web site stats and allow you to download the raw
stats for further analysis on your own computer.
