What is Information SecurityThe term computer security is often used as a synonym to information security, but normally has a much more limited meaning. Computer security generally concentrates on securing information on computer systems, as well as the systems themselves, and would therefore exclude protecting any information in non-electronic form. People using the term computer security often also limit their interests to protecting their information and systems against hackers and virus attacks and tend to exclude other forms of computer crime as well as non-technical means of protecting their systems. It is also not clear, how many security experts consider network security to be part of computer security or a separate area. In my view, the term systems security should be used if network security is definitely to be excluded. Related terms: Other resources |
